You’ve already seen (and probably swooned over) Erica Tanov’s profile of her home and lovely family in Berkeley. And now the designer and long-time East Bay resident shares her top picks in town.

What are your favorite places in your city to…

Eat with the kids? “Breakfast at Guerilla Café. Dinner at Cesar early Sunday evening when it’s not crowded.”

Eat with adults?  “Breakfast and lunch at Bartavelle. Dinner at Chez Panisse and Ippuku.”

Shop for kids? “Isabelle does most of her own shopping with friends at the typical thrift shops and H&M. For Hugo we shop J.Crew online..mostly sale stuff!”

Shop for yourself? Flowerland Nursery and Erica Tanov (of course!).”

Play with your children? “At home and at estate sales.”

Play with your adult friends? “Walks in Tilden Park, dinners at our homes.”

Get out in nature?Tilden Park and the UC Botanical Garden.”

Any good flea markets/thrift shops?Far & Few and the Pop-Up Shop, both right down the street from my studio.”

Any good museums? “In Berkeley, BAM. And there are lots in S.F. I particularly love the deYoung.”

Where do you take out-of-town visitors? Cheeseboard, UC Botanical Garden, Fourth Street.”

Any tourist-y places that are worth it to visit? Chez Panisse.”
