The Fastest Growing Baby Names of 2014

Written by Katie Hintz-Zambrano

We’ve already revealed the Top 10 baby names for girls and boys in 2014 (according to the Social Security Administration). And now…drumroll…you can scroll through the top two thousand names for both genders right here.

Of course, each year brings a host of different trends with it, thanks to the ebb and flow of pop culture. For 2014, that meant that two surprising names—Aranza and Bode—had the biggest jump in popularity of all other monikers.

Aranza jumped 3,625 spots on the girls’ side to number 607, from number 4,232 in 2013. Fans of the Latin soap opera “Por siempre mi amor,” which aired on Univision from 2013 to 2015, will recognize the name as that of the young lead character.

Meanwhile, Bode jumped 645 spots, from number 1,428 in 2013 to number 783 in 2014. Signs point to 2014 Winter Olympics star Bode Miller’s probable influence.

The second fastest growing baby name for boys was Axl, most likely due to the fact that Fergie named her son this rock ’n roll-inspired name. For girls, the second-fastest and third-fastest growing names were Montserrat and Monserrat (note the slight change in spelling), which is also the name of a lead character in a Latin soap opera.

See which monikers made it in the Top 25 lists for boys and girls below. And, for more baby name madness, check out 50 Tom Ford-Inspired Baby Names, the Top Celebrity Baby Names of 2014, and what 60+ Fashion Designers Named Their Kids.
