Mom Milestone Cards—Yay Or Nay?

Written by Katie Hintz-Zambrano

Sharing your baby’s milestones via social media isn’t exactly novel. Sharing your personal mother milestones, on the other hand, is something we don’t usually see. Especially when they are as frank as “Today I Went To The Bathroom Alone,” “I Only Got Up 5 Times Last Night,” and “We Did It For The First Time.” But those are exactly the experiences the new Australian-born Mum’s Milestones cards are encouraging women to fess up to (in a completely tongue-in-cheek way, of course).

The gag gift, which runs for $23, is the brainchild of Sydney mothers Esti Zilber and Becky Feiner. “We were having a laugh at how these ‘baby milestones’ were being celebrated with these beautiful photos of babies, but no one was really acknowledging what mums were going through,” Zilber recently told Mashable.

So popular was the idea that they quickly sold out of their first run of the decks (which include 25 cards) after launching in March of this year. The duo also makes giggle-worthy greeting cards, our favorite being one with “Happy Gave Birth Day” scrawled above an illustration of confetti shooting out of—presumably—a crotch. A portion of the products’ proceeds will go to an Aussie charity focused on perinatal anxiety and depression.
