Conveniently, right around Mother’s Day weekend, the U.S. Social Security Administration debuts its list of the top baby names for the previous year. Drumroll, please… The biggest news for 2017 is that there’s a brand-new name that’s leading the boys’ list—Liam (which moved up from the #2 spot last year). Meanwhile, Emma is still the reigning girls’ champ, coming in at the #1 spot four years running. (The Atlantic points out that American parents love a vowel-heavy name, which might help explain the others in the Top 10 lists).

Other noteable movements and trends: Wyatt, Mateo, and Lincoln are on the rise for boys. Meanwhile, Luna, Mila, Nora, and Hazel are making gains in the Top 100 for the girls.

Pop culture also has a lot to do with these lists. And, thanks to Amazon, Alexa is way down. Meanwhile, Melania is way up, as is Ensley, Oaklynn, and Dream for the Top 1000 girls names; and Wells, Kairo, Caspian, Nova, and Colson within the Top 1000 boys names. (You can play around and check out the change in popularity of any name by using this handy tool).

And, without further ado, the Top 100 baby names of 2017, below! You can check out thousands more over here.
