It’s been a tough week for so many of us, but the show had to go on (quite literally) at West Coast Craft this weekend. The San Francisco showcase of the Pacific coast’s creatives brings over 20,000 people in and out of Fort Mason’s Festival Pavilion (located right on the water, with sweeping Bay views), and we were there to take it all in, meeting and greeting parents and children in our “Mother Lounge” play space and taking some of them outside to snap adorable mommy-and-me street style photos. In addition to logging clothing credits, this season we also gave mothers the opportunity to sound off on the election (if they wished to do so). What follows is a touching, inspiring portfolio that is sure to brighten your day.

I normally come to this site for design eye candy and escapism, and I love it – but thank you for being so real. It is true that after this US election many people are afraid for people of colour, immigrants, Muslim Americans, women and girls, inhabitants of a warming climate, and the free press. I am a Canadian reader, and I hate that a racist and a climate change denier will be affecting our Canadian policy and our cultural climate. We are with you, and we notice, and we will fight.
