It’s horoscope time! Check out what’s in store for you this month by reading through the larger themes of these October 2026 horoscopes, then finding your specific sign below.
October smells of woodsmoke and wet leaves. Pumpkins chill and soften on the porch steps, and the last of the summer garden goes black overnight after the first frost. By the end of the month, it’s dark before dinner, and the costumes laid out on the bed look a little stranger and uncanny by lamplight.
This is the season of rot, and decomposition is how the earth settles its accounts. Everything that grew this year returns to the soil it borrowed from. This month, we go underground too, and discover that the underworld keeps honest books.
In the heroine’s journey, the descent comes after the success. She has won everything she was told to want, and it has left her dry and hollow. Then the ground gives way, and down she goes. In the oldest version of the story, she surrenders a piece of her finery at each gate to the underworld: the crown and the jewels first, and eventually even the instruments she once used to measure what was fair. She arrives with nothing to bargain with—and that’s the point. Only someone with nothing left to offer can be judged fairly.
Venus freezes on October 3rd, then moves backward through Scorpio, the sign she’s least comfortable in. Love in Scorpio has no manners and no patience for small talk, and in retrograde, she can’t flirt her way out of anything. Until she turns forward again in November, whatever we want gets stripped of its packaging and weighed as it is.
The New Moon in Libra on October 10th is the most elegant and honest beginning of the cycle. Libra is the sign of the scales, and Venus usually rules it with a light touch. This month, her hands are empty, so anything begun now begins without leverage: no charm offensive, no favors called in. Agreements made under this Moon are drafted in pencil, and they’re fairer for it.
On October 15th, Pluto, lord of the underworld, turns forward in Aquarius after a retrograde that began in spring. The house rules take effect again, and in Aquarius, those rules are collective: what we’re owed together, and what we owe one another in return.
Then the descent hits rock bottom. The Sun goes down into Scorpio on October 23rd, and on Saturday the 24th, Venus passes directly between the Earth and the Sun and is lost from the sky: the heroine at the bottom of the world, stripped and unseen. The same day, Mercury turns around in Scorpio and follows her down. In the old stories, it’s the faithful messenger who goes to bargain for the heroine’s return.
On October 25th, Venus crosses backward into Libra, her own sign, and the court convenes. A Full Moon in Taurus follows on October 26th, with the Moon at full strength in Venus’s earthiest sign. In the story, this is where the heroine is revived and returned to her body. It’s also where the terms come due, because nothing comes back up from the underworld without a trade.
The month ends on All Hallows’ Eve, when the veil between the living and the dead is said to be at its thinnest. The dead have always been our creditors. They hand down names and recipes along with their debts, and they expect the books to balance from generation to generation.
Light a candle in the window for whoever came before you, then balance your own books by its light.

Aries - Terms of Surrender
March 21 – April 19You’re known for walking into most rooms armor first. This month, you set your weaponry down at the door. And that’s only the first thing you’ll shed and leave behind.
Venus retrograde begins on October 3rd in the part of your chart that governs intimacy and shared resources, retracing the ground she covered in September with a stricter eye. Between you and the people closest to you, the question of who carries the weight—and who gets credit for carrying it—comes up for a recount.
The Libra New Moon on October 10th opens your partnership zone, and a new agreement begins there. For once, you let the other person set the opening terms, with negotiation holding your interest longer than any thrilling, hot-blooded fight. Pluto turns direct on the 15th among your friendships and alliances, loosening a group loyalty you’ve outgrown. Through it all, Mars, your ruler, spends the month in Leo, keeping your appetite for pleasure and play fully torched.
Late October gets crowded underground. The Sun enters Scorpio on the 23rd, and on October 24th, Venus vanishes into its light while Mercury stations retrograde in the same sign, all in that same intimate territory. An old argument about what's owed and outstanding returns, and you'll hear it through to the last word without reaching for a rebuttal. Venus backs into Libra on the 25th, reopening a partnership grievance you ruled on long ago.
A Full Moon in Taurus on October 26th illuminates your money and your sense of self-worth. What you own outright, you can stop defending.

Taurus - Common Ground
April 20 – May 20Your ruling planet spends October underground, taking your partnerships down with her.
Venus turns retrograde in Scorpio on October 3rd, directly across from your sign, and starts reviewing the agreements you’ve made with the people closest to you. Her inquiry is narrow and exacting: whether arrangements made between you are fair to everyone involved.
October is also when you plant bulbs, pressing them into cold soil on faith that spring will keep its word. Yours go in with the New Moon in Libra on the 10th, among your daily routines. A small change to how an ordinary day’s work gets divided, down to who packs the lunches and who answers the school email, takes root where no one can see it yet. Pluto turns direct on the 15th at the top of your chart, and a career overhaul that stalled in the spring picks up speed again. Mars spends the month in Leo at the root of your chart, so the household runs hot and loud.
The Sun crosses into Scorpio on October 23rd and joins Venus on your partner’s side of the bed. On October 24th, she vanishes into the Sun’s glare, and Mercury stations retrograde, forcing you to revisit everything sharp you’ve said to each other. Someone you love reveals an emotional burden they’ve been carrying for you, and the load you thought was balanced has tilted their way. Venus slips back into Libra on the 25th, settling among your chores, where the fixes are practical and overdue.
A Full Moon rises in your own sign on October 26th, with the Moon exalted in Taurus soil. The fairer arrangement you planted on October 10th is already rooting, and your body registers the relief long before anything blooms.

Gemini - Read Receipts On
May 21 – June 20You do a staggering amount of work that no one ever seems to see. This month, all of it shows up on the books.
Venus turns retrograde on October 3rd, bringing your daily work and wellness into focus, with no interest in romanticizing your to-do list. Every favor you absorbed at work without credit (and every task that became yours by default) now appears in bold.
The New Moon in Libra on October 10th offers a reprieve, landing in your zone of pleasure and play. Something fun begins, with no serious deliverables attached, like a standing date or an afternoon with nothing on the calendar. Because its ruler is walking backward, the pleasure may be one you’ve enjoyed before and set aside. Pluto turns direct on the 15th, far out where your beliefs live, and a conviction you’d shelved resumes its slow excavation. Mars spends all of October in Leo, among your conversations and errands, making your texts shorter and your comebacks quicker. Draft the quip, but then let it marinate for an hour.
The Sun moves into your working life on October 23rd. The next day, Venus evaporates into its heat, and Mercury, your ruler, stations retrograde, opening the archive of everything you’ve written this fall. Old threads resurface, a few containing promises made and then forgotten. Venus backs into Libra on October 25th and returns to your pleasure zone, where an old love, whether a person or a pastime, comes back around.
The Full Moon in Taurus on the 26th falls in the hidden end of your chart, where nothing needs a reply. Some messages can stay on read, and you’ll feel lighter for leaving them there.

Cancer - Family Plot
June 21 – July 22Every family hands down more than the good china. This month, you sort through what came to you and decide what your children will inherit.
On October 3rd, Venus reverses course in Scorpio among your children and your private pleasures. Why does the delight you arrange so carefully for everyone else so rarely include you?
A New Moon in Libra on October 10th settles at the foundation of your chart, where home and family live. Start a household tradition this week, one you’d be proud to see your children keep long after you’re gone. On the 15th, Pluto ends its retrograde among your shared resources, and a family question about who inherits what begins moving toward settlement. Mars occupies Leo all month, right where you earn and spend, so you’ll negotiate with more nerve than usual.
Scorpio season opens on October 23rd in your house of creativity and romance, just as the Halloween costumes come out. The next day, the Sun swallows Venus whole, and Mercury turns back to revise a creative project you thought was finished. Venus returns home to Libra on the 25th, where a family heirloom, or a family habit, finds a fairer place.
On October 26th, a Full Moon in Taurus—the sign where your ruling planet, the Moon, is often strongest—lights up your friendships. Of everything handed down to you, the friends you chose yourself may prove the most valuable.

Leo - Pride of Place
July 23 – August 22In every family photo, you somehow end up in the center. But who was holding the camera all those years? The true center of the picture may be the one person who never appeared in it.

Mars stays in your sign the entire month, keeping your body strong and your temper short.
The Sun sinks into Scorpio on October 23rd, dropping to the lowest point of your chart, where family and private life are kept. On the 24th, Venus disappears into its blaze while Mercury goes into reverse in the same corner. The family albums come out, figuratively or otherwise, and you notice who’s been cropped out of the pictures. Venus reenters Libra on October 25th, among your siblings and neighbors, and evens out a rivalry you’ve both outgrown.
The Moon waxes full in Taurus on October 26th, high in your chart among your career and public standing. A professional win arrives, and it looks best with the people who helped you standing in the frame.

Virgo - Benefit of the Doubt
August 23 – September 22Your sign’s oldest figure is Astraea, the self-possessed virgin goddess of justice and the last immortal to leave the earth in mythology. You carry her scales of judgment, and lately, you’ve weighed no one more harshly than yourself.
On October 3rd, Venus sets off backward through Scorpio, among your everyday speech and thinking. Venus is listening to how you talk about yourself when no one else is around—and she doesn’t care for your tone.
October 10th brings a New Moon in Libra to your money and self-worth, and a new budget begins with a line item just for you. Pluto moves forward again on October 15th, among your daily routines and your health, and a regimen you let slide over the summer takes hold for the long haul. The Sun arrives in Scorpio on October 23rd and joins Venus in your thoughts and conversations. The next day, Venus goes dark beside it, and Mercury, your ruler, begins retracing its steps. September 23 – October 22A closet full of beautiful clothes, and not a single piece that feels like you anymore.

Mars keeps your friends restless all month from Leo, so expect invitations, and only accept the ones that sound like fun.

A New Moon in Libra on October 10th unfolds in the most secluded part of your chart, and a private ritual begins, one that belongs to you alone. Pluto, your modern ruler, completes his retrograde on October 15th beneath your home life, and a door in the family house, locked for years, cracks open. Mars, your traditional ruler, holds court in Leo all month among your career and reputation, and your boldest professional ideas are finally heard.
The Sun comes to your sign on October 23rd. The next day, Venus merges with it there while Mercury pivots backward, and your season opens with your identity under revision. A truth you’ve guarded for a long time comes out, and it’s better told by you than found by anyone else. Venus withdraws into Libra on the 25th, into the hours you keep for yourself, where an old grievance you’ve nursed in private can be released.
The Full Moon in Taurus on October 26th opposes you directly, in the territory of partnership. The person closest to you asks for a key to the one room you’ve kept locked, and handing it over costs less than you feared.

Sagittarius - Director's Cut
November 22 – December 21No one tells a better story than you, and no one is better at leaving out the part that hurt.
