There’s just something about those long, effortless, feminine, beachy waves that make us all swoon with hair envy. Luckily for time-crunched mamas (especially those living far from the coasts), you don’t have to hit the beach to get that spent the whole day in the ocean look. We’ve got some great tips on how to achieve beautiful, salt-water hair in minutes. Just follow our simple tricks and product picks to get those perfectly tousled waves.

1. Put down the dryer. Most people have some natural wave to their hair. Try brushing your mane before you shower and then let your hair air-dry to let any natural texture come out to play.

2. Invest in a sea salt spray. There are many on the market that will do the trick, but we are huge fans of Olivine Love + Salt Mist. It smells divine and gets the job done better than most other sprays we have tried. Spray on dry hair and gently squeeze and scrunch your locks to encourage body.

3. Get a large barreled curling iron or wand. We like this one, and prefer a 1″ to 1.5″ barrel. Select the top layer pieces around your head, concentrating more around your face and the ends. Wrap hair around the hot barrel (watch those fingers) to give you loose wave-like curls in no time. Finish with a good spritz and scrunch of salt spray and a gentle misting of a lightweight, flexible-hold hairspray like MoroccanOil Luminous Hairspray.

4. Try washing your hair the night before and braiding loosely or twisting hair into a couple of buns. You’re guaranteed to awaken with some stellar waves that are a great start to your beach hair vibe. When you take out your braid or buns, skip the brush and finger through your hair. Follow with a good spritz of salt spray and you’re set.
