If you’re anything like us, you’ve considered Botox, but the idea of injecting yourself with a foreign substance (especially if you’re breastfeeding) is a big turnoff. Enter Frownies, a cheap, drugstore solution to keeping wrinkles temporarily at bay.

We first heard about this wonder through the blog The Coveted a few years ago and, in essence, Frownies are little facial stickers (you just have to moisten them) that you apply to your face in specific, wrinkle-prone areas (forehead, between the brows) while you sleep. The theory is that the stiff sticker will prevent you from creating wrinkle-making expressions…or at least prevent the recording of the lines that come with them.

The product, invented in 1889, is best worn a few times a week, overnight, so that your muscles are frozen, in a sense, for a good stretch of hours, leaving your visage less marked up when you awaken. We’ve been using the patches on the eve of photo opps and important meetings and we have to admit they work pretty well…given the fact that they are an inexpensive needle-free intervention. One warning: Sometimes the removal of the stickers can leave a little red mark or skin irritation. That said, it’s nothing a little makeup can’t fix up.

Frownies Facial Pads, Forehead and Between the Eyes, $15.97 for a box of 144 patches.
