Sure, they say don’t judge a book by its cover. But with so many artistic masterpieces currently lining children’s bookstore shelves, it’s certainly hard not to. And, really, what better gift can one give to a mama-to-be or kiddo than a page-turner with major pretty points, too? With that in mind, we’ve gathered some of the most beautiful children’s books on the market that’ll double as art for the nursery—from classics to newbies. Did we miss some of your favorites? (We’re absolutely sure we did!) Add ‘em to our list in the comments below.

A wonderful list but one of the most beautiful books I have seen is “Brother Sun, Sister Moon” Illustrated by Pamela Dalton. I have given this book as gifts many times.

Lisbeth Zwerger and Hilary Knight are some of my favorite illustrators. Knight’s Cinderella is still enchants me.
