The astrological agenda for July is jam-packed with hot and hectic activity unlike any other month this year, beginning with the very first day of the month. 

Mars, ruler of stamina, drive, and asserting oneself, enters fiery showoff Leo on July 1, lending drama and diligence to tackling our goals all month. A solar eclipse in watery Cancer occurs on July 2, supported strongly by wildcard Uranus. Solar eclipses are all about radical, permanent shifts, and with Uranus in the mix expect the unexpected. Eclipse season can be an incredibly stressful time—especially for signs stubborn to change. Focus on rolling with the punches and making the best out of every challenge and curveball. 

Love planet Venus transits sensitive Cancer from July 3 through July 27, lending tenderness to matters of the heart. When Venus is in Cancer, we tend to take on a nurturing role in our intimate life. Sweetness will go a long way this month with Mercury turning retrograde from July 7 until the 31st, causing tensions to rise and miscommunications to crest, creating a confusing and unpleasant atmosphere. Take care to communicate clearly and directly this month, and avoid any major new commitments or signing legal documents and contracts until August. 

A lunar eclipse in earthen Capricorn on July 16 is bookended by Saturn, Pluto, and Venus, delivering tough-but-fair endings to all 12 signs. For some, this will be a time of discomfort and agitation. And for others, this will come as a welcome, if unavoidable and expected time of closure. Just like the developments from the solar eclipse earlier in the month, whatever materializes now will be permanent.  

The mighty sun moves into Leo on July 22 marking the official start of Leo Season. Venus shifts out of emotional Cancer and into theatrical Leo on July 27, lending a lusty, adventurous vibe to love, beauty, and wealth. The month ends with a rare “black moon”—the second new moon to occur in a month—in Leo on July 31, the very same day Mercury stations direct. Consider this a cleansing lunation freeing each sign from any residual burdens of enduring such major transitions.
