Little ones in knits…it never gets old, does it? Which is why we were thrilled to hear S.F.-based womenswear brand Micaela Greg is branching out with a kids’ collection, which has just hit shops and the web.

“Doing childrenswear wasn’t a very strategic decision at all, but actually quite naive and spontaneous,” explain sister-sister design duo Marie and Karen Potesta. “We took a short break from the business a year ago because our mother suddenly passed. When we started back up, we just couldn’t wrap our heads around anything too serious. So, we thought to just try a few kids’ styles and have a bit of fun to see how they turned out. It was a natural exploration seeing as we both have toddlers. It was also something our mother had always thought we should try.”

Drawing on their favorite patterns and designs from Micaela Greg’s women’s collections, the sister’s kids’ wares include mini woven sweat pants in graphic prints, classic striped sweaters in interesting color combos, hats and scarves, and a gorgeous unisex Egyptian cotton baby blanket we are seriously coveting.

“Bold, imaginative, playful,” is how the sisters describe the pieces, adding, “The influences ended up being mostly from Sol Lewitt and Josef Albers in the end.”

The pieces range from $40 to $140 and can be seen in the slideshow below and bought right here.
