Beach days are right around the corner, mamas! And we, for one, can’t wait to get our littles out there in the sand and surf. Seeing those tiny bodies outfitted in adorable swimwear is always a highlight of our summer, and there’s a brand-new indie swimwear brand that we’re obsessing over for the occasion. Meet Minnow, the brainchild of Laguna Beach resident Morgan Smith, a mother-of-one who knows a thing or two about the kids’ industry, after years in product marketing and consulting for brands like Bugaboo, Freshly Picked, and Storq.

“As the mom of a boy, I had the hardest time finding swim suit options for my son Theo,” Smith says of her inspiration behind the line. “Last summer, I ended up ordering him little vintage boardshorts off of Etsy, so I could get the length just above his knee, but they came and the elastic was all worn out. Living by the beach, we live in swimwear. I decided right then that I need to create some of my own.”

There are five main shapes in the collection: A ruffled one-piece and bandeau ruffled bikini for girls, a fitted brief and boardshorts for boys, and a unisex long-sleeved rashguard. Laid ontop of those styles is a somewhat muted, sun-kissed palette (soft seafoam and baby pink, punctuated by classic navy) as well as a liberty-like floral print. Smith says she wanted the buttery-soft, extra-durable, Made-in-California wares to offer something “sweet, playful, yet polished. Timeless, yet still modern and fresh.” And it seems she’s done just that.
