We’ve said it before, and we’re saying it now: We’re suckers for mommy-and-me style…when it’s done right, of course. Which is why we’re really digging the new NYC-based brand Smokks.
The line is filled with simple and durable A-line dresses in vivid Liberty of London prints for girls 4-9, and their moms. To appease picky kids and parents, there are no zips, hooks, or buttons, and the fabrics are super-soft, iron free, have adjustable hems and ample arm holes, and are meant to be layered with other wares to last through the seasons. Thanks to the loose design, the brand claims each frock can grow with your daughter for over two years (which makes the $100+ pricetag more worth it).
Created by photographer and Australia native Hallie Burton (who has worked with Bon Point and Target, among other blockbuster brands) and her husband George, the line was inspired by the idea that dressing their daughter, Pompie, in beautiful clothing should be simple. So, they created the solution in the form of Smokks.
Personally, we love how classic and unfussy the shapes are, combined with the instantly recognizable Liberty prints, which are the perfect combo of timeless and trendy. Bonus points go to the label’s adorable name, sleek website, and the fact that mom can get in on the easy, breezy dress-up action, too.
