If you’re anything like us at Mother, you are just a tad obsessed with Game of Thrones. And you’re also in need of a drink (or three) during this hectic holiday season. Voilà! We’ve got all of that covered, thanks to this trio of winter cocktails straight from San Francisco’s Blackbird bar. Included in the venue’s new “Winter Is Coming” menu, spearheaded by general manager Matt Grippo, the GOT-inspired libations include the eggnog-infused Milk of the Poppy, the festive and bubbly Red Wedding, and the dramatic, flame-lit Mother of Dragons. The best part: We’re sharing all of the recipes for those boozy beauties right here. Bottles up!
- Like what you see? Find out how you can make these concoctions for your next holiday party...or just some Friday night after the kids go to bed.
- A sweet and gentle drink with eggnog as its star. (Pictured: The Blackbird staff's favorite brands of booze).
-
Ingredients:
3 oz. eggnog (homemade or store-bought)
1 oz. cognac
1/2 oz. mulled wine
Nutmeg (for topping)
-
Directions:
Mix the three ingredients together, strain into a glass, and add a little nutmeg on top. Now you've got the perfect, indulgent spiked 'nog. Trust us: You won't stop after just one.
- For all of the champagne-cocktail lovers out there, this version comes with a festive and fruity kick. (Pictured: The Blackbird staff's favorite brands of booze and bitters).
-
Ingredients:
1/2 oz. gin
1/2 oz. cranberry shrub
Sparkling wine
A dash of cardamom bitters
-
Directions:
Add the gin and cranberry shrub to a tall glass with a dash of the bitters, and top with bubbles. Then, make a teary toast to the heartbreak of GOT's perhaps most devastating episode.
- A full-bodied beauty that can be lit on fire for the ultimate presentation. (Pictured: The Blackbird staff's favorite brands of booze).
-
Ingredients:
1 1/2 oz. scotch whiskey
1/2 oz. amargo vallet
1/2 oz. yellow chartreuse
1/4 oz. red wine
1/2 oz. honey
-
Directions:
Mix all of the ingredients above. And, if you really want to get dramatic (and you're super smart and safe about it), float any over-100-proof spirit (like Bacardi 151) on top of the glass, light it on fire, and make Khaleesi proud.
