We’re always on the hunt for unique baby shower inspiration, so when Stone Fox Mama Molly Guy invited us to tag along to her celebration, of course we said yes! What followed was a chic, non-traditional, NYC affair filled with tarot reading, face painting, hair braiding, a fresh flower crown bar, and lots of delicious food and drinks for some of Molly’s closest friends and their kids. Molly’s special day also included a give-back mission and fundraiser to benefit and raise awareness for Circle Of Health, an organization founded by Sera Bonds who flew in from Austin for the event. The baby shower date? Valentines Day! Hence the red heart-shaped balloons as decor.
Molly wears a vintage dress and boots by Isabel Marant.
- Molly's friend Meredith Melling, founder of La Marque and a former editor at Vogue, opened up her beautiful New York City home to host the event.
- In place of gifts, Molly asked her guests to donate to Circle Of Health—a Texas-based nonprofit developed to help pregnant women in "hard places" (Haiti, Jordan, Sudan, Texas/Mexico border, Afghanistan, and many more) gain access to the reproductive health care they need to deliver babies safely.
- "As a pregnant mother to a 3-year-old daughter with another little girl on the way, I can think of no other organization or cause that speaks to me as deeply as one devoted to elevating the quality of care for women and children who desperately need it," explains Molly. "When COHI's founder Sera Bonds told me about the work she was doing, my next thought was: How can I mobilize my cool mom friends around COHI's mission? Sera and I went back and forth on the phone for a few months and decided that instead of having a traditional baby shower, I would gather some of my closest NYC-based female friends to introduce them to Sera and the badass humanitarian work she is doing."
- Couch envy anyone?
- Guests were encouraged to piece together their own fresh flower crowns to wear and take home with them. Love this idea!
- Check out that giant chalkboard wall.
- It's a girl!
- Cupcakes, cocktails, and crudité were on the menu.
- Molly's adorable daughter Sonny getting her face painted.
- So much style amongst the crowd.
- Sweet treats, St. Germaine, and Martini Prosecco.
- “Working in fashion in downtown NYC can be its own sort of myopic ratrace, very insular and crazy and difficult to step outside of in search of real perspective," says Molly. "Until I became pregnant for the first time three years ago, I had never really considered the quality of care for other expectant mothers in other parts of the world.”

- Beautiful!
- The guest list also included Molly's friends' kids and included several kid-friendly activities to keep them busy and having fun.
- Look at that spread.
- More beautiful face painting.
- “Becoming a mother is a very democratizing experience in a weird way—all of the sudden, you see the whole world in very simple terms," says Molly. "Everyone is a mother, everyone is a child. It creates a depth and a compassion to every relationship.”
- This little cutie!
- Proudly showing off that belly!
- Tarot reading!
- Like mother, like daughter.
- All smiles!
- Personalized quilt pieces.
- Who doesn’t love a sing-along?
- Some of Molly’s nearest and dearest were in attendance, including Honor CCO Rachel Fleit, photographer Frances Tulk-Hart, J. Crew's Lisa Lundy, jewelry designer Schosha Woolridge, magazine editor Violet Gaynor, DJ Erika Spring, designer Chloe Gosselin, photographer Cass Bird, and more.
- There was tons of eating, Prosecco-swilling, and more!
- “Without sounding too cheesy or high-minded, I feel it's ALL of our responsibilities (as mothers, mother's-to-be, or simply just women born of mothers once upon a time) to step outside our comfort zone and work toward changing the quality of reproductive health care worldwide," says Molly. "It really does take a village.”
- “The event flew by in a blur and I loved every minute of it,” gushed the guest of honor.
- "Through a deliriously happy and exhausted 36 1/2 weeks pregnant haze, I relished in all the loving vibes of my Stone Fox Momma friends as word of Sera's work spread throughout our community," says Molly. "Together we raised five thousand dollars. I can think of no better way to celebrate the birth of my second child."
