While it’s tempting to make Thanksgiving all about the food and family, it should also be an opportunity to dispel some harmful mistruths about the origin of the holiday. One of the best ways to do that is learning more about (and from) Native American people. November is Native American Heritage Month, so there’s no better time to stock your child’s library with diverse voices telling stories of Native Americans’ many cultures and histories (there are hundreds of tribes, each with unique cultures, languages, foods, and ceremonies). We rounded up 25 children’s titles that beautifully share some of those stories, and also invite you to broaden the conversations this season with our guide on How to Talk to Your Kids About Thanksgiving. Now, click through to learn a little more about each book!
