Whether you like it or not, there’s no denying the scent of one’s mother. In the case of beauty maven and street-style star Linda Rodin, it was a “powdery, sophisticated, and fresh” smell she’s decided to bottle for her second fragrance.
“I had very strong and fond memories about her scent. And I wanted to recreate it 60 years later,” Rodin tells Mother of the feminine perfume that pays homage to the late Beatrice “Billie” Rodin and combines notes of bergamot, jasmine, lemon, lavender, and rose, amongst others. The combo is supposed to mimic the whiffs of tobacco and Juicy Fruit she would receive when wrapping herself up in her mother’s signature oversized coat (pictured above).
Rodin Bis will be sold for $290 and released this Mother’s Day, May 11th, at Barneys New York and Olio Lusso. In the spirit of the holiday, we asked Rodin her favorite mommy-and-me memory. “Going antiquing,” she says. “She taught me the appreciation for antiques and unusual things.”
