Mother Essentials: Molly Hatch
Written by Erin Feher
We all feel like we are spinning multiple plates these days, but today’s Mother Essentials mama actually is. Artist Molly Hatch is best known for her romantic, modernized version of 18th century tableware (which has long stocked the shelves at Anthropologie), but she also serves it up in the fine art world. In 2015, her jaw-dropping installation comprised of 456 hand-painted dinner plates became part of the permanent collection at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta. Mama to 10-year-old Camilla, Molly started her career as a studio potter, and today is the founder of her namesake brand (also 10 years old!) that turns out tableware, home goods, stationery, and books. Based in Florence, Massachusetts, Molly is, like all of us, navigating the “new norm” of sheltering in place, so she just released a series of illustrated downloadable printable coloring pages, perfect for kids and adults looking to destress and to express creativity. She is currently offering 3 free downloadable coloring pages, as well as 7 other designs for $3.50 each. For every purchase of the printable pages, Molly will donate 10 meals to Feeding America. See all of Molly’s current must-have Mother Essentials below.
