Heading to Southern California in the near future? If so, why not make a stop in Newport Beach! We asked Danni Remender of Fawn Shoppe to take us around the beautiful seaside town and be your guide. The mother of two blonde beach babes gives us a little tour of her (and her kids’) favorite local spots!
What are your favorite places in Newport Beach to…
Eat with the kids?
“We love going to Benihana. I’m pretty sure we could build an art wall with all the Benihana pictures we have.”
Eat with adults?
“Fig and Olive just opened and it’s wonderful. It’s easy to get good seafood around here.”
Shop for kids?
“The Waldorf school here has a little gift shop where we buy our wooden dolls and silk scarves. It’s so beautiful.”
Shop for yourself?
“I shop mostly online. But Bardot in Costa Mesa has a cool selection of women’s clothing and locally made jewelry.”
Play with your children?
“We get frozen bananas and go sight seeing on Balboa Island. Also, there are amazing tide pools for the kids in Corona Del Mar.”
Play with your adult friends?
“I like to take bike rides to the pier for drinks.’”
Get out in nature?
“We hike up Crystal Cove. It’s not the easiest to navigate with a jogging stroller, but it’s doable. The views are stunning overlooking the Pacific Ocean.”
Any good flea markets/thrift shops?
“The Long Beach Flea Market is such a treasure. It’s easier to navigate than the L.A ones, and has much better prices.”
Any good museums?
“We go up to LACMA and The Tar Pits whenever we can. It has the perfect mix between educational and space for rolling down hills.”
Where do you take out-of-town visitors?
“Whale watching is pretty impressive here and you are guaranteed sightings. Unless you get sea sick, like me, that is. The best part about Newport Beach is that you can do nothing or grab a bike and it’s all you need. Rent a board or bike and go explore. Everything is accessible.”
