For exhausted new parents, $4 seems like a small price to pay for a sanity-saving cup of coffee. But now sleep-deprived moms and dads can spend the same amount to actually get some more shut-eye.
The SNOO Smart Sleeper, which senses a baby’s level of crying and responds with just the right amount of sound and movement—from soothing white noise to slow swings and fast jiggles—has been on the wish list of of countless new parents since it was released in 2016. But for many, the pricetag (the SNOO retails for $1295) has kept the innovative sleep-saver out of reach. However, the company just announced a new rental program: For $148.95 a month (which works out to $4.90 a day), parents can rent the revolutionary, robotic baby soother.
The SNOO was the brainchild of dream team (no pun intended…ok, maybe a little intended) pediatrician/baby whisperer Dr. Harvey Karp (author of The Happiest Baby On The Block) and renowned designer—and dad of four—Yves Béhar. The pair worked with engineers from MIT for nearly five years to come up with the technology, which includes an app that lets parents choose the rhythms that work best for their baby (including special settings for preemies and newborns, weaning to the crib, etc.) and automatically creates daily sleep reports. According to studies done by the company, the SNOO boosts babies’ sleep time by an hour or more and can calm a fussing baby in under a minute.
The crib rental also includes three “5-second” swaddles—patented sleep sacks that keep babies in the safest position (on their back) all night long. Once parents return the crib, the swaddles and an organic cotton crib sheet (a $100 value) are theirs to keep.
“As a pediatrician, my goal is to make SNOO as affordable as possible so that we can help as many families as possible,” said Dr. Karp, founder and CEO of Happiest Baby.
Sound like a dream come true? Happiest Baby is making the deal even sweeter for parents who rent in January, offering the first month for $98 (about $3.50/day). Baby not due until later this year? You can still get the discount by ordering in January but scheduling the delivery for later in the year. Head over here to find out more.
