Ready for some major workspace inspiration? One of our very favorite co-working spots, The Wing, has just hatched its eighth location—and it’s no little chick. The Wing Williamsburg opens its doors today, and with its three floors and 12,000 square feet of hang out space, it’s the second largest NY location after Soho (that’s what $117.5 million in venture funding will get ya). Below we take a first look at the jaw-dropping space, from the studious yet stylish work areas, to the fully kitted out kids space, The Little Wing, to a rooftop deck and multiple outdoor terraces that are like a little slice of Palm Springs in Brooklyn. We asked the team at The Wing to give us the low-down on the latest location—click through the full tour and Q&A below!
- "The design of the space was inspired by the vibrant energy of Williamsburg. New colors were also introduced including a combination of nude and black that we haven’t used previously. Because there is more outdoor space in this location than we’ve had previously, we wanted to incorporate as much of the outside design into our interior space—so we pulled the design of the outdoor area all the way through the main floor to our Perch Cafe. Creating a sense of cohesion throughout the space."
- "It’s a brand new building and we will occupy three floors—the building is located at 71 North 7th Street in Williamsburg."
- "Each Wing location feels really unique—the team draws inspiration from the local neighborhood and incorporates it into both the aesthetic and the functional design of the space. A lot of our design evolution can be directly attributed to member feedback we’ve received—this is anything from creating quiet rooms for folks to hammer down and get work done uninterrupted to offering standing desks to designing our own furniture. We design our amenities to best suit the needs of the members in that specific location; in the case of Williamsburg, we knew upfront that many of our members have children so offering a Little Wing was critical in this space."
- "In the reception area and bathrooms we’re using custom hexagonal tiles with a really fun floral design."
- "The roughly 12,000 square foot space in North Williamsburg will occupy 3 floors and include The Wing’s second New York location of its dedicated childcare space, The Little Wing, which will offer babysitting and early childhood education classes for members with young children. In addition to The Little Wing, amenities of The Wing Williamsburg will also include showers, lockers, conference rooms, phone booths, ladies library, lactation room, beauty room, quiet room, multiple outdoor terraces, a rooftop deck, and a full service cafe."
- "Since launching less than three years ago, The Wing has opened 8 locations across 6 cities in the US and raised $117.5M in venture funding. Since its launch, the brand has extended itself beyond its physical spaces. No Man’s Land is a multimedia platform featuring a biannual print magazine, and a women’s history podcast hosted by in-house historian Alexis Coe. The Wing’s mobile app offers members instant access to thousands of fellow members to network and connect with direct messaging. As you know, in January 2019, we opened our first childcare space, The Little Wing. A dedicated space for babysitting and enrichment programming, The Little Wing allows members to drop their children off under the supervision of 'Wing-sitters' while they work or attend events. Kids have access to art, music, movement classes, and monthly programming tailored to specific age groups."
- "This will be our first location with multiple outdoor spaces including several terraces and a rooftop. The outdoor spaces are all seasonal and will have views of the Manhattan skyline."
- "We have announced plans to open more spaces in 2019 including our first international outpost in London next month (October) and two more NYC locations: Bryant Park and Williamsburg."
