Getting your hands dirty in the kitchen—and celebrating with a tasty reward—is a great way to make memories with your mini-me. Plus, there are lots of ways to make your baking or cooking experience extra interactive, beyond measuring spoons and mixing bowls.
Cake-making mama Tami Busia and her 4-year-old daughter, Zella, created a stunning floral-pattern cake inspired by the vibrancy of the legendary artist and icon Frida Kahlo.
In addition to adorning their own heads with flowers from Backyard Bouquets, they also made a beautiful Frida-inspired floral crown for their cake!

Et voilà! A gorgeous finished product by Tami, with fun Frida Kahlo napkins to match!
Now all that's left to decide is if you'll devour your cake as a family or invite some friends over for a flower-powered party, infused with some Women's History Month education and inspiration.
Think: reading books, doing art projects, playing games, or watching programs that celebrate women before digging into your cake!

Take the time this Women's History Month (and always) to pay close attention to female representation in the shows your kids watch and the games they play, starting with fictionalized characters.
The ad-free Noggin app (ideal for ages 2-6) is accessible on tablets, smartphones, and TV, and features a wide variety of great programs with strong female leads—including kid favorites JoJo and Gran Gran, Dora The Explorer, and Shimmer & Shine.
Backed by research and developed by early childhood experts, each episode supports kids with literacy, math, science, and creativity.
-
In addition to the countless number of enriching programs to watch on Noggin, the app has loads of educational games, e-books, and songs for kids to engage with, right alongside their favorite characters. (Read more about the brand’s unique learning approach!)
Plus, there is plenty of programming perfect for Women's History Month, including the Rhymes Through Times series, in which a cast of Nick Jr. characters takes the stage portraying Black heroes throughout history—including Ruby Bridges, Aretha Franklin, and Katherine Johnson.

While it's important to teach our kids the stories of exceptional women in history, it's equally important to infuse their lives with real-life examples of the inspiring women of today!
Make it a part of your monthly routine to take your kids to women-owned restaurants and businesses, and attend art exhibits featuring female creatives.
You can also regularly tune into programs, like Noggin Knows, which introduces kids to real people (and real women!) with interesting jobs, like a marine biologist or sushi chef.

With Women's History Month as your guide, try engaging in extra-inspired play with your kiddos.
That could include building block towers like Zaha Hadid, grabbing your magnifying glass and going on a nature walk, engaging in an art project based on an artist you admire, or curling up with a physical book or e-book featuring female characters.
(And if your kiddos are wearing Black History Heroes PJs while they're at it, all the better!)

Of course, there's often no bigger role model in a kid's life than their mother. Tell your child your own history—before you became their mama and afterwards—plus the history of other women in their lives. This could be through stories, photos, and phone calls.
Moms, grandmothers, teachers, and other care-takers serve as daily examples of the strength of women—make sure you point it out often and celebrate it, year-round!
