Heading to L.A. anytime soon? Then read up on the top kid-friendly (and adult-friendly) places, courtesy of our tour guide, Amanda Chantal Bacon. This is where the Moon Juice founder goes when she leaves her ridiculously cool home (which you should also check out, pronto)!
What are your favorite places in L.A. to…
Eat with the kids? “Malibu Farm, it’s right on the pier so the kids can watch boats go by.”
Eat with adults? “Axe on Abbot Kinney for a lovely meal with a garden that the little ones can run around in if you choose to bring them along.”
Shop for kids? “Lost + Found in Santa Monica and Hollywood.”
Shop for yourself? “Mohawk General.”
Play with your children? “The Annenberg Beach House at Santa Monica beach is amazing. It has restrooms, a pool and playground, as well as a wooden boardwalk that makes pushing a stroller to the beach a snap.”
Play with your adult friends? “In Southern California everyone has great outdoor spaces, so we usually hang at home.”
Get out in nature? “A day hike in Temescal Canyon.”
Any good flea markets/thrift shops? “The Santa Monica flea market, it’s small and doable with a kid. It’s near the airport, so its fun to look at the planes afterwards. For vintage, I love driving to the central coast and hitting all the great antique marts.”
Any good museums? “The Natural History Museum has a butterfly garden, which will turn into a spider garden this winter. The inside is a bit bizarro, but the bug gardens are cool.”
Where do you take out-of-town visitors? “Guests love hanging out in Venice. They stay over, borrow by bike to ride to the beach, and check out Rose Ave. and Abbot Kinney. They usually just like to stay local.”
Any tourist-y places that are worth it to visit? “A drive down Mulholland at sunset.”
