While so much changed in the world from 2019 to 2020, one thing that remained the same was the baby names that so many Americans gave to their newborns. As it does every May, the Social Security Administration rolled out its official list of the most popular baby names of the past year, and the top 3 monikers for both girls and boys remained exactly the same from 2019 to 2020, with Olivia, Emma, and Ava, and Liam, Noah, and Oliver winning the Top 10 lists respectively.

Luckily, many of the other names on the lists are shaking things up a bit and keeping things interesting. For example, Henry entered the top 10 for the first time in a century. Meanwhile, many buzzy names that were predicted to rise in the ranks—like Gianna, Luna, Asher, Mateo, and Axel—continued to gain steady traction upward. (To see how your child’s chosen name is working its way up or down the list over the last 10 or 100 years, you can use this handy tool on the SSA’s website!).

So, which names didn’t make the Top 100 this year, but are bound for future lists? According to the SSA, Zyair, Jaxtyn, Jakobe, Kylo, Aziel, Ander, Dior, Truett, Karsyn, Kenji, Kobe, Ocean, Rio, Emir, and Riggs saw the biggest boost in popularity for boys, and Avayah, Denisse, Jianna, Capri, Rosalia, Denise, Zhuri, Haisley, Novah, Murply, Jaylin, Drew, Wrenly, Marleigh, and Mazikeen for girls.
