On Summer '17 (Belena): "This summer I am looking forward to tying up all of the loose ends before launching my online party shop, Geese and Ganders. I am thrilled my kids (17, 14, and 3) are finished with school for the year. I am a notorious hater of homework! We are psyched for the new opening of the Mountain Lake Playground in our neighborhood—we plan on clocking many hours there in the next few months. We joined our summer pool club in Marin to escape the fog, and will make trips to Idyllwild Arts, Ojai, San Diego, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas. With three kids going in three different directions we are always moving moving moving!"

On Summer '17 (Halle): "Summer for me is always about playing, weekend beach trips, family traditions, and unexpected adventures. Here are a few things we already have planned for the summer that I'm excited about and would encourage everyone in Southern California to check out: We're going to our 14th year of Family Camp at Idyllwild School for the Arts with my two boys, my niece, and my boyfriend and his daughter (it's actually my 40th year going to this awesome summer camp!). Summer has always meant outdoor theater to me and as a board member of the Independent Shakespeare Co., I can't wait to support their Griffith Park Free Shakespeare Festival this summer with outdoor performances of 'Two Gentleman of Verona' and 'Measure for Measure!' I'm also starting a Superhero Club with my 6-year-old to keep him connected with his school friends over the summer. We're going to plan activities, art, science, and snacks around our favorite superheroes! And I'm going to Comic-Con with my 19-year-old. It's a tradition! This year we're getting into Hall H if it kills us!"

On Summer '17: "We're lucky to live at the beach, so we are out there everyday, rain or shine. Now that Jonas is a year old, and his schedule is a little bit more predictable, I want to establish a daily rhythm/routine for the both of us. I am really inspired by aspects of Waldorf and Montessori education, and both stress the importance of a predictable rhythm for little ones. I used to think that I wanted to keep things open ended and unscheduled so we could be spontaneous, but I wasn't finding consistent time for myself to work, exercise, meditate, be with friends, etc. Building time into our rhythm for those things will make them happen more easily. And of course, spontaneous and planned adventures will be important, too. We'll be heading to Tahoe, the East Coast, and maybe Europe later this summer."
